Curriculum Enrichment
At Woodbury Primary we aim to bring learning to life through a host of visits and visitors. In recent years we have welcomed theatre groups, the police service, a science planetarium and a mountaineer - to cite a few.
Wherever possible we enrich the children's learning by including a visit. These are too many to mention but especially memorable ones have been to a synagogue, the Eden Project and fossil hunting at Charmouth beach. At the beginning of year 6 the children take part in a residential visit to Dartmoor.
Our curriculum also includes 'theme days' where the children dress as people from the past, a book character or from another country. These may be linked to the current unit of work or a National event such as World Book Day.
As a school we enjoy taking part in competitions. These may be linked to lessons, such as the Radio 2 500 Words Story Writing competition or be the focus of a club.
Clubs
At Woodbury School we offer our children a variety of clubs before and after school as well as during lunchtime. During the year there is a variety of clubs such as Netball, Running, Cookery, Football, Science and Computing. The clubs are extremely popular and are excellent opportunities to widen the experiences we offer our children.
We are very grateful for the staff and parents who offer their valuable time in assisting or leading these clubs and without them they simply would not happen. All adults involved with a club are DBS checked.
