Woodbury C of E Primary School

Curriculum

At Woodbury Primary School our curriculum is based upon the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum 2014 and also the development of the essential learning skills and attitudes which will enable our children to succeed both now and in the future.

We aim to provide a curriculum that inspires and motivates our pupils. We place great importance on pupils being active participants in their learning and work together to ensure they become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

Our cross curricular approach provides opportunities for our children to question and discuss and to gain an awareness and understanding of our world - locally, nationally and internationally.

We fully recognise the importance of developing pupils’ essential skills in Maths, English and Information Communication Technology. In addition to this, we provide many opportunities to explore and develop pupils’ creative, physical, cultural, spiritual, personal and social skills. We pride ourselves in giving our children a wide range of real and relevant learning experiences through a broad, enriched and differentiated curriculum. We listen to what the children want to learn and build this into our planning. We also use our outdoor environment, the local community and surrounding area as well to stimulate pupils’ curiosity, motivation and desire to learn.

Children need to develop transferable skills which reach across different subjects in order to increase their overall learning and equip them for later life. Please find attached below our curriculum statement. If you would like to speak to someone about our curriculum, please talk to Head of School, Miss Pyle or Assistant Head, Mrs Simpson.
